From home kitchen to award winning street food via a small café in Leeds Kirkgate Market, Manjit’s Kitchen is about to open Manjit’s Bar & Kitchen with a little help from their growing admirers.

We were asked by owners Manjit and Michael to work with them on their Kickstarter campaign. Using their existing branding we created reactive social media posts to promote pledge rewards, taking over their Twitter to maintain consistent traffic of support, and we posted daily live updates across their other social platforms. Among the rewards on offer were exclusive t-shirt designs by Ejectos, invites to the opening night and a collaboration tasting menu with the Ox Club Restaurant.

As well as running the nuts and bolts of the campaign, Turtle and Hare created a talking-head video that unraveled the story of Manjits past, present and future. This intimate video portrait was a chance for the client to add a heaped spoon of heart and soul into the Kickstarter mix—an element, we thought, serious campaigns lacked.  507 backers pledged £41,837, meaning Manjit and Michael reached their goal with 9 days to spare. Locals, regulars and supporters played a huge role in promoting Manjit’s Kickstarter, and each of them will be rewarded with another great independent restaurant to eat in.
